Canada is the Entrepreneurship Superpower
I came in late, so I had to sit in the back of the room at the last free table. Luckily the only other person sitting with me was Leonard waiting to be summoned up to speak. At first, I was intrigued by the guy sitting next to me as he didn't look like he fit in with the rest of the bankers in the expensive suits in the room. He was wearing a corduroy jacket and his hair was spiked. His presentation was excellent, but it started off with a lot in the room not willing to loosen their ties. What Canada is cool and we are great at business? No way, we are suppose to be conservative in business and nice people. With time though most in the room started to understand that Canada's greatest enemy in being a great business power is really our own perception of who we are. I guess it has a lot to do with trying really, really hard not to be like the arrogant, loud American neighbours, but in the last decade Canada has risen to become a very competitive world power. Leonard went through a ton of stats that I wish I had written down, but it all proved that we should be proud of how well we manage businesses and how creative we are for such a small country (population). Canadians are brought up to listen and understand our surroundings instead of taking things for granted and believing that we are all-powerful. This helps us pick up on market trends and managing people. We just have to learn to throw caution to the wind and execute better. [ Edit | New ] |
